Philosophical Psychotherapy can benefit anyone who is struggling with a variety of life challenges or looking to improve their overall well-being. Aretotherapy, in particular, focuses on developing the clients use of their rational faculty and developing more meaningful connections between themselves and others. It is not suitable for people struggling with mental illness and who would be best directed toward a clinical psychologist or psychiatrist.
I have a Bachelors degree in Arts with Honours in Psychology (2A). I also have a Master's degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and am an accredited member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA). I have studied ancient philosophy with close attention to the Stoics. I continue to research the implications and possibilities of integrating ancient and modern psychotherapeutic techniques.
In your first therapy session, we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, what you know of Stoicism and how well you have been able to implement philosophy as a way of life.
The frequency of therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Many clients attend therapy once a week, while others may attend less frequently.
